c.h.a.r.i.t.y._&_d.i.n.n.e.r._&_d.a.n.c.e._s.h.o.w.

Last weekend I volunteered to help out for a charity fair raising fund for children homes, organized by HSBC. It was held at YMCA from mid morming to afternoon. The weather wasn’t very promising. It was sunny one minute, then raining the minute after, and back to blazing hot again. This catastrophe continued throughout the day. More than 40 booths were set up, consisting largely with food and drinks, games, and odd interests.

I got one as well - a simple sun symbol.

Food for the hungry stomach.

Nutella pancake

BBQ chicken and satay

Curry noodle

After the paint dried up

It turned out to be quite eventful. I was exhausted by the time I reached home. Took a short nap after shower, then went for dinner. A unique dish - squirrel soup!

Pork knuckles

Pork curry and vegetables

Then as if my day wasn’t meaningful enough, I was going for a show at Akademik Seni Kebangsaan (National Art Academy) for a dance of tapestry - compilation of Malaysia’s traditional and modern dance and culture.

I was feasted to a variation of dances and music. It was an eye opening experience.

In total - 10 dances! plus a grand dance out including an after session with the audiences.

Definately a magical night for me.

j.a.k.e._a.g.a.i.n.

My obsession for Jake only begins to be visible. If it was even possible that I dream of days when I will really meet him in person, that would be awesome. So the store didn’t have Brokeback Mountain in DVD yet, I was despair. Instead of picking Jarhead (another one of his latest movie), I got Proof instead. Choosing a pulitzer adaptation movie with A-listers like Gweneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins, surely it would be a great one. The script of it is as old as the theory of algorithm, but the after effect is simplistic, something no one would thought of it as that way. And maybe that was the same reason why the novel was awarded, for its genuine and plain perspective at life.

s.h.o.p._t.i.l._i._d.r.o.p.

To think that I was laxing in my office with nothing much more important to do. I did have plenty of stuff to get done, but nothing’s urgent, nothing’s real important. I missed those freaking weeks where I had to crush my head to the reporting, but ever since that was over, I’ve been losing concentration and nothing else matter, everything can wait. I am one of those person who works well with deadline, it must be the tension between nearing the submitting date that triggers me to get going and be productive. However here I am, doing nothing except typing away in my blog. Oh and I took pictures of my office equipments. Yes I am that bored.

The printer that connects to every other computers in our unit.

Fax that makes annoying noises when receiving faxes.

Air-condition that fails me more than once, the prime source of making my day unproductive.

My colleague’s computer, but since her temporary transfer, it has became my non-movable iPod.

My office mug for the use of extra strong caffeinated beverages.

Pencil sharpener. Another one of those things in my office that I never use for I perfer mechanical pencil.

New pair of scissor. Every now and then I won’t be able to find them.

My crotch. And yes I am wearing jeans at work. One great thing about my boss is that she doesn’t impose dressing code on her staffs. As long as the work gets done, who fucking care what you wear to work. Moreover she knows well that I work more efficiently in casual clothing. And sport shoes come in handy too at times.

I seriously need to get a more worthwhile job.

And finally a reliable steel ruler to measure the…

Since Monday, I’ve been heading off work quite early, and today will probably be the same. What I did with getting out of my workplace quicker than usual:

Monday - sent in my spectacles for repair, shopping, watch movie “Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire”

Tuesday - got my laundry done, cloth ironned, cleaned my room

Wednesday - picked up my specs, shopping, finsihed analyzing Isetan catalog

Today - haircut, stuff to mail, more shopping

Last week a friend said I could really spent money (who couldn’t). I happened to shop quite abit while she didn’t even buy anything. In fact I don’t think I really did spent that much. For starter I don’t make that much to spend that much, what I earn annually probably considers far lesser than most people. That’s part of the reason I often say I am underpaid. Yet what I like about this job is the flexibility. Therefore sooner or later I may need to change my job for something that pays better, or getting my boss to agree on an increment. I know you must be thinking that I don’t deserve a raise, for I am not working the nine to five. But in my context of work, I needn’t be working 9-5 daily. As some days I stayed back late to finish up something urgent (nothing to do with me laxing, but the work just came in late with a tag “need it by tomorrow”, so it’s not entirely my fault to begin with), and I don’t get paid OT (overtime). Is the 9-5 rule works well with you? For it doesn’t for me. I hate it. And thank God my boss dislikes it too!

m.o.m._&_s.o.n.

It’s nice to see the stunning lady who bear the effort of good will still so much desirable. No wonder Brad left Jeniffer to her. I think Maddox may well turn out real handsome someday. He is so bloody cute now with the frisky mohawk hairstyle.

a._s.a.n.i.t.a.r.y._e.d.u.c.a.t.i.o.n.

A tardy breakthrough for Malaysia’s public health policy makers, an approach which hardly has been mentioned, much less mooted. Ministry of Education has fell flat on their faces for having other governmental department came about with a structural syllabus on sexual and reproductive health for school children. It’s about time they realized that school children as young as 12 of age are possibly having sexual activity, whether it be penetrative or otherwise. Therefore it is a step towards acknowledging pre-marital sex and installing necessary knowledge at an earlier age. It should be seen as a smart move, but I am not so convinced. Skeptically, I am worried about: 1) What is covered in the syllabus? 2) Will it be carried out academically or extracurricular? 3) Are the teachers at schools ready for such challenges? 4) Who should benefit this implementation? 5) When is the big day for it?

a.n.o.r.e.x.i.c.l.e.s.s.

Either my appetite has improved or I am still a growing boy, I’ve been eating more than what a person my size needs. Imagine a frequency of four heavy meals and occasional snacks. No, it doesn’t have any effect on my body, in fact I would be head over heels if I did gain weigh. But nothing of such cheers my day.

There’s only one possible but quite unlikely reason for that - stress! I could well be suffering stress without knowing. I’m aware that my job has be getting too much and not to mention increasingly tougher over the months. And also there is the sickening deadline of each project, whether it be a proposal, a report, or simply a response to any queries, could easily got on anyone’s nerve. The intensity of stress is non-measureable and definately uncontrollable. Maybe I’ve reached the point of tolerance of my workload (reminder to self: another reason to further discuss any form of increment to supress the stress level).

Don’t worry, I won’t suffer diabetes or high cholesterol as a result of stress. I won’t let that hit me like a stink bomb.

i.t.’s._n.o.t._a._g.a.y._t.h.i.n.g.

As uninterestingly as I was reading TheSun online (not that the printed material comes with a cost, but more like convenience of the internet), a piece of news that instinctively have me crossed my leg. Then after that close call, I recall a similar news involving oral copulation with a minor. Just years back, our neighbourly Kaisu nation announced a revision of the matter. And such proclaim has only created a forum of jokers.

u.n.e.x.p.e.c.t.e.d._a.g.e.n.d.a.

Yesterday… evening…

8:30 - reach home after an easy & light dinner of soto noodle

9:00 - clean and fresh after shower; lying in bed to continue a thrilling novel

10:15 - put the novel and specs away; sleep

Today… morning…

2:00 - woke up, couldn’t sleep back; put on running shoes and head out for an early jog

3:00 - statisfied with the workout, took a shower, and laid in bed; still unable to sleep after fumbling

3:15 - read novel instead

4:00 - eyes closing, sign of sleepiness, threw the novel and specs away, try to sleep; YES!

6:00 - awoke to previous set alarm to wake up for jogging, damn! set for seven and back to dreaming

7:00 - buzzer of hp, time to wake up, shower again (I’m starting to become a clean freak), dressed, and ahead for work

8:30 - had bf* at work, checked my emails, organized boss’ emails (don’t ask my why)

9:30 - started with the real-pain-in-the-arse project

10:30 - needed painkiller for the amount of files to look through

11:30 - fingers got tired of flipping through pages and pages of case notes and writing profusedly

12:30 - partially done with the work; going lunch

1:30 - continued to feel the morning stress again

3:30 - absolutely admired myself for competency and able to beat the deadline by two days

3:45 - final checking; emailed to Australia; work done for the day

4:00 - blogging

Having to wake up at sleeping hour to go for exercise probably the best choice I’ve made today. With the bright rounded moonlight, I felt like I was a werewolf running and sniffing to get fresh meat.

I had managed to complete three sets of jogging, sit-ups, and push-ups within an hour, and a brief stretching and breathing of self-instructed yoga. A workout that lasted the whole day, making me more energetic an usual. Maybe I should start doing that from now on to see what effect it has on me.

*bf = breakfast, although it would be better to have bf (breakfast) with bf (boyfriend), even at work.

b.u.r.n.

Is piracy roaming around Malaysia without restraining? So acceptable that it was featured proudly in movie. And more recent been reported in BBC. If the official could release a threat towards piracy, why is it still happening? Maybe they outsmart the law, or maybe close to that.

When there are selling, surely there are buying. A warning set out to consumer of round and slim “hotcake” that one can easily got off the penalty with little incentive into the pocket of the law enforcer. Or you can choose to be a law-abiding samaritan unintentionally fighting against piracy. Or you could be the unlucky lamb.

Music and Movies are two popular genre to pursue copyright infringement, while software for the geek is not far behind. Do we Malaysians appreciate or even buy orginal? Indeed only minority of population does. By the way, who can tell what’s real and what’s fake these days. We simply drown ourselves with the trend. And if piracy could be a risky yet profitable business (what business doesn’t have risk) and a pickup opportunity, who wouldn’t go for it.
