Riding for Life started on Sunday, I was at KL Tower helping out in KLASS booth, doing some fund-raising for positive people. The event started with fourty or more cyclists taking off from Malaysia to Singapore. They will be passing through a few states, then finally assembling ni Singapore for the closing.
Next to our booth is Dorsett Hotel, in which they were selling muffins (5 for RM2). They also shared a little secret with me when I asked them what will happen if they couldn’t sell them off at the event. They said they’ll be serving it for next day breakfast at the hotel. Now I know why I never have any one of those muffins when staying at hotels - Thay are not freshly baked!
Down by our other side of the both was face/body paint. At first I got myself a bright red ribbon on my right cheek by a volunteer named Sam. Then when other volunteers of my booth came, they had great fun painting up my face. Later I got two circles around my eyes, one red and one green. One has a arrow sign for male, and another has a cross sign for female. I also got a lollipop watch on my left hand, to replace the watch I lost previously. By noon time, I stood out like a sore thumb among the crowd, as I was one of those few who got their whole face painted.
Volunteers were invited to lunch at MegaView banquet deck on the 421 metres high KL Tower. MV is beautifully decorated and systematically designed. It was located at 382 metres above sea level, with a breath-taking view of KL. I believe it’ll be wonderfully lit up during the night too. One of the dishes is roti jala, my all time favorite. I ate myself silly with those little wraps.
After that, we went to the games booth and tried our luck with the challenges. Shooting hoops, aiming darts, kicking soccer, and lots more. We managed to win some gifts. Nice one too.
We also got along well with othwr booths like Nesh (as they are giving away free water bottles), and FitLine (they got nutrient drink that tasted odd). There were live performances of singing and dancing, very much of a mixed group of telents, from tradiotnal dances to comtemporary one, from sassy vocal to raunchy tune. We also got a glimsp of African dances, Q&A competition, and drinking contest.
Then we ended up at National Art Gallery with our faces and bodies still in paint, to catch some international screening. It was the 4th Ibero American Film Festival. The first movie was dead boring, with political boycott and plenty of military stink. A cuban film named Clandestinos. But the second movie was funny, about a cabby who is involved in a stealing activity with two other guys. A Chile’s Taxi para Tres. They also served some snacks from Chile as freshment. After that we were off to dinner and I got home, showered, and snoozed before I even hit the pillow.
